Jordan Maier has been an impressive golfer during his years of attending school in Eureka. His start in golf all started when he was a baby. He was given some plastic golf clubs as a baby gift and when he started
walking, he started swinging those clubs. As a toddler, he golfed with his parents, Sidney and Tonya Maier, and has not stopped swinging the club since.
He just loves the game of golf and has qualified to go to the State Golf Meet every year since he was in seventh grade. This year the State Golf Meet was June 6-7 in Rapid City and he tied for 20th place out of
110 players. This earned him another medal to add to his collection. Last year he finished second in the state and in his sophomore and freshmen years of high school, he placed in the top 25.
Two new faces will be in Pierre in January representing District 23 in the State House of Representatives. Spencer Gosch, from Glenham, and John Lake, from Gettysburg, were elected from four candidates, which included Charlie Hoffman, from Eureka and Dick Werner, from Herreid, vying for the position.
Neither Gosch and Lake have had previous experience in legislation in Pierre, but they have or are currently serving on several boards. Both candidates plan to be a strong voice in education. The large education bill that was passed in the last legislative session will put pressure on rural schools and both feel amendments are necessary.
